2022 BC Summer Games Torchlighting

Members of the community joined the Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games Host Society to celebrate the 100-day countdown to the opening ceremony of the Games happening in Prince George this July.

The tagline for the Games is Spirit Lives Here – Njan tsen ghuna, and if this celebration is any indication, Prince George has a spirit that will continue to grow over the next 100 days. BC Games alumni were front and centre at the celebration, with Cody Bailey (2016 BC Summer Games – Golf) and Alyson Emberley (2020 BC Winter Games – Ringette) serving as torchbearers, Bobby Kelly (2018 BC Summer Games – Basketball) serving as emcee, and Zoe and Araya Spooner (2020 BC Winter Games – Ringette) performing.

“We are thrilled to invite the community to celebrate 100 days until Prince George welcomes BC’s best and brightest young athletes for the 2022 BC Summer Games,” says Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games President Renee McCloskey. “The City is excited about the Games, and we are seeing this through the early response to our call-out for Friends of the Games and volunteers. It takes a lot of community spirit and resources to pull off an event of this size. There are a lot of opportunities to get involved.”

The Host Society also announced that Cap-abilities has been named the official merchandise vendor for the Games. A limited-edition T-shirt was released to celebrate the 100 days out event. Only 100 of these T-shirts were printed. If you didn’t get your at the event, they can be purchased at Cap-abilities. Information about the official Games merchandise will be announced soon,, including details about the online store.

The Ignite the Spirit Torchinglighting Ceremony, was proudly sponsored by Canada Tire – Prince George.
