This will mark the fourth time that the BC Summer Games have been held in Kelowna, which hosted in 1980, 1994, and 2008.

Athlete Selection Criteria Athletes wishing to be selected to a BC Summer Games Zone Team can do so based on the following criteria to be used: Performance-based Selection: Athletes must register a performance at a BC Athletics Sanctioned event or a BC School Sports Zone Championship meet. If the BC School Sports Zone Championships is not sanctioned by BC Athletics, athletes will be asked to submit proof of those results on the BC Summer Games Athlete Declaration. A performance-based selection will be used for all athletes. A list of events can be found on the BC Athletics Calendar of Events. Zone Representatives Zone Reps are selected by the Provincial Advisor in consultation with the Program Manager for Track & Field at BC Athletics. Zone Reps must submit an online application to be considered. The role of BC Summer Games Zone Reps is to ensure that all eligible athletes in the zone they are representing have the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 BC Summer Games. This includes athletes that may not yet be a BC Athletics Competitive athlete member. The do so by planning and promoting the qualification events for the zone including the chosen selection criteria. Each PSO (BC Athletics) manages zone qualification events differently, so Zone Reps will need to work with the Provincial Advisor and/or PSO to determine process, eligibility, timing fees, etc. Zone Reps should review this technical package for Athletics to ensure they are familiar with eligibility requirements. They should also review the BC Games General Rules. ZONE REPS DO NOT SUBMIT THEIR EXCEL SPREADSHEETS TO BC SUMMER GAMES DIRECTLY. THEY MUST GO THROUGH THE PROVINCIAL ADVISOR. Zone representatives must submit their proposed team and wildcard lists to the Provincial Advisor prior to June 12, 2026, in order that zone teams can be finalized, and wildcard spots allocated by the Provincial Advisor prior to the BC Games Society registration deadline of June 22, 2026. Zone Reps are encouraged to submit their lists to the BC Games Provincial Advisor as soon as possible. |
Accommodation Requirements: All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors participating in the BC Games are required to stay in designated BC Games accommodation. This ensures a consistent Games experience for all participants, including access to meals, transportation, and supervision. Officials are not required to stay in BC Games accommodation, unless they are under the age of 19 as of the first day of the Games. Officials should contact their Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for further information on accommodation arrangements. Exemptions for athletes or coaches to stay outside of BC Games accommodation may be granted for legitimate medical reasons. However, these exemptions are regulated and must be approved in advance to ensure the integrity of the accommodation model. Contact your Provincial Advisor for further information. Transportation Requirements: All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors, except for those residing within close proximity to the host community, are expected to use BC Games transportation services from their designated pick-up point, which may include bus or air travel. 15 | Players must abide by the British Columbia Golf Conditions of Competition and Local Rules. The Rules of Play shall be the Rules of Golf as approved by Golf Canada and the R & A. Players must be members in good standing of British Columbia Golf. Players' Golf Canada Score Centre account will be verified. BCGA may assess a tournament fee in addition to the BC Games registration fee. All fees are paid directly to British Columbia Golf. Female athletes are permitted to attend two BC Games to compete in Golf. Male athletes from zones 1, 7, and 8 are permitted to attend two BC Games to compete in Golf. Athletes who are attending the Games for the first time will be given priority in selection, where all other aspects of selection are equal. Yardage – As per recommendations via the Long Term Player Development Guide for Golf, for the Intro to Competition/Train to Play Stages, the following yardages will be utilized for the BC Summer Games:
All athletes will participate in a mandatory rules and etiquette session at the Games. Athletes will participate in the practice on the Thursday of the Games; details will be provided on the Sport Schedule. Scoring: Individual Play: 36 holes of stroke play. Scoring is based on a total two-day gross score. Medals are awarded to the top 3 in each of the Boys Individual Play and Girls Individual Play. Team Play: 36 holes of stroke play. Team scores are based on the two-day total of the 3 lowest net scores posted each day from any member of the zone team. Medals are awarded to the top 3 teams. All players on a zone team must be from the same zone. |

March 19, 2026 | Event Requirements: Every athlete must participate in a minimum of three (3) categories from four (4) - Sprint, Stand up Paddle board, Flatwater Slalom, Kayak Polo. Every athlete must participate in a minimum of three (3) events and a maximum of eight (8) events. Athletes may enter LtoT in one type of boat and TtoT in another type. Entries in the LtoT canoe category may use a high kneel position. The Competition Committees reserves the right to move LtoT athletes to TtoT when obviously outclassing their category. This ensures a consistent Games experience for all participants, including access to meals, transportation, and supervision. Officials are not required to stay in BC Games accommodation, unless they are under the age of 19 as of the first day of the Games. Officials should contact their Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for further information on accommodation arrangements. Exemptions for athletes or coaches to stay outside of BC Games accommodation may be granted for legitimate medical reasons. However, these exemptions are regulated and must be approved in advance to ensure the integrity of the accommodation model. Contact your Provincial Advisor for further information. Transportation Requirements: All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors, except for those residing within close proximity to the host community, are expected to use BC Games transportation services from their designated pick-up point, which may include bus or air travel. This transportation is provided at no additional cost to participants. Participants residing within close proximity to the host community are responsible for their own travel to the Games, a process known as Immediate Vicinity Travel. Participants may request to opt out of BC Games transportation (a process known as Own Travel) with approval from the Provincial Advisor. However, sport-specific travel requirements may override this option. Participants traveling under either Immediate Vicinity Travel or Own Travel do so at their own expense and liability. The full athlete fee still applies regardless of the travel method chosen. All participants on BC Games transportation services must adhere to the BC Games Society’s Team Travel Policy which requires them to travel at their own expense and liability to a designated zone pick-up point and be under the supervision of a coach or adult supervisor from their sport. |

The teams will be seeded 1 through 8 by the Provincial Advisor with input from BC Ultimate and the Zone Representatives. Each pair of seeds (1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8) will then be drawn randomly into one of the two pools (A & B). The competition format for the 2026 BC Summer Games will be 6v6. |
February 9, 2026 | The BC Games athlete fee for the 2026 BC Summer Games is $175.00 and helps offset some Games operating expenses such as participant transportation, accommodation, and food services. BC Ultimate charges athletes a supplementary fee of $100.00 which is used to offset the cost of uniforms for all athletes and coaches, coach travel expenses for tryouts and practices, field costs for tryouts and practices, and travel expenses for BC Ultimate organizers. The total athlete fee to compete in Ultimate at the 2026 BC Summer Games is $275.00 and is collected by BC Ultimate. Additional fees may be charged by individual zone teams to support pre-Games training opportunities and/or zone apparel kits, at the discretion of the Zone Rep or head coach. |
