BC Artistic Swimming states that the zone qualification meets will be held concurrently with the 2026 Mable Moran Provincial Qualifier which will be held April 10–12 at Watermania in Richmond. A separate figure event will be held at this event.
Athletes in each zone will be selected by final figure score in their respective trials. The figures performed for zone selections will be the 2026 BC Summer Games figures.
All zone qualifications must be completed, and a copy of the selection results must be handed in to the Provincial Advisor, no later than April 30, 2026.
Wildcard spaces are allocated by the Sport Development Manager in consultation with the Provincial Advisor and BC Artistic Swimming's Executive Director.
The Sport Development Manager must complete the online registration no later than June 13, 2026. |
Accommodation Requirements:
All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors participating in the BC Games are required to stay in designated BC Games accommodation. This ensures a consistent Games experience for all participants, including access to meals, transportation, and supervision.
Officials are not required to stay in BC Games accommodation, unless they are under the age of 19 as of the first day of the Games. Officials should contact their Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for further information on accommodation arrangements.
Exemptions for athletes or coaches to stay outside of BC Games accommodation may be granted for legitimate medical reasons. However, these exemptions are regulated and must be approved in advance to ensure the integrity of the accommodation model. Contact your Provincial Advisor for further information.
Transportation Requirements:
All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors, except for those residing within close proximity to the host community, are expected to use BC Games transportation services from their designated pick-up point, which may include bus or air travel. This transportation is provided at no additional cost to participants. Participants residing within close proximity to the host community are responsible for their own travel to the Games, a process known as Immediate Vicinity Travel.
Participants may request to opt out of BC Games transportation (a process known as Own Travel) with approval from the Provincial Advisor. However, sport-specific travel requirements may override this option. Participants traveling under either Immediate Vicinity Travel or Own Travel do so at their own expense and liability. The full athlete fee still applies regardless of the travel method chosen.
All participants on BC Games transportation services must adhere to the BC Games Society’s Team Travel Policy which requires them to travel at their own expense and liability to a designated zone pick-up point and be under the supervision of a coach or adult supervisor from their sport. |

Athletes wishing to participate in the 2026 BC Summer Games must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a registered athlete in good standing with BC Artistic Swimming and Canada Artistic Swimming;
- Not have any outstanding fees/fines payable to BC Artistic Swimming, an affiliate member club, or Canada Artistic Swimming;
- Meet the age requirements;
- Pay all required program fees within the specified timelines set out by each zone;
- Compete in the trials event outlined in this document
Athletes who qualify for the Canada Artistic Swimming National Team and/or BC Artistic Swimming Ignite Team BC and/or National Stream athletes with a total figure score of 65.1 or higher at their respective Provincial Championship are NOT eligible to participate in the BC Summer Games.
All athletes must be registered as athletes through a club or facility affiliated with BC Artistic Swimming by December 31, 2025. A fee will be charged at the zone qualification meet which will be communicated with the event registration information. BC Summer Games trials will be held at the 2026 Mable Moran Provincial Qualifier.
Trials will consist of a Figures Competition using the same figures as are used at the Games. See BC Artistic Swimming Technical Package for specific trial information and details.
Athletes may not attend more than one BC Games to compete in Artistic Swimming. |

Figure placings are determined by final Figure score. Final placing for the Routine events will be determined using the same scoring system and factors as BCAS Provincial Competitions.

The BC Games athlete fee for the 2026 BC Summer Games is $175.00 and helps offset some Games operating expenses such as participant transportation, accommodation, and food services. BC Artistic Swimming charges athletes a supplementary fee of $100.00 which is used to help offset the cost of officials and BC Artistic Swimming staff event preparation time. The total athlete fee to compete in Artistic Swimming at the 2026 BC Summer Games is $275.00 and is collected by BC Artistic Swimming.
Additional fees may be charged by individual zone teams to support pre-Games training opportunities and/or zone apparel kits, at the discretion of the Zone Rep or head coach. |

Athlete Selection Criteria
Athletes wishing to be selected to a BC Summer Games Zone Team can do so based on the following criteria to be used:
Performance-based Selection: Athletes must register a performance at a BC Athletics Sanctioned event or a BC School Sports Zone Championship meet. If the BC School Sports Zone Championships is not sanctioned by BC Athletics, athletes will be asked to submit proof of those results on the BC Summer Games Athlete Declaration. A performance-based selection will be used for all athletes. A list of events can be found on the BC Athletics Calendar of Events.
Zone Representatives
Zone Reps are selected by the Provincial Advisor in consultation with the Program Manager for Track & Field at BC Athletics. Zone Reps must submit an online application to be considered.
The role of BC Summer Games Zone Reps is to ensure that all eligible athletes in the zone they are representing have the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 BC Summer Games. This includes athletes that may not yet be a BC Athletics Competitive athlete member. The do so by planning and promoting the qualification events for the zone including the chosen selection criteria. Each PSO (BC Athletics) manages zone qualification events differently, so Zone Reps will need to work with the Provincial Advisor and/or PSO to determine process, eligibility, timing fees, etc.
Zone Reps should review this technical package for Athletics to ensure they are familiar with eligibility requirements. They should also review the BC Games General Rules.
ZONE REPS DO NOT SUBMIT THEIR EXCEL SPREADSHEETS TO BC SUMMER GAMES DIRECTLY. THEY MUST GO THROUGH THE PROVINCIAL ADVISOR.
Zone representatives must submit their proposed team and wildcard lists to the Provincial Advisor prior to June 12, 2026, in order that zone teams can be finalized, and wildcard spots allocated by the Provincial Advisor prior to the BC Games Society registration deadline of June 22, 2026. Zone Reps are encouraged to submit their lists to the BC Games Provincial Advisor as soon as possible. |

Athlete Eligibility:
To be eligible to compete in the BC Summer Games, athletes must:
- Complete the 2026 BC Summer Games Athlete Declaration by June 7, 2026.
- Compete all steps as set out by the Athlete Selection Criteria (see 'Zone Selections and Registration Deadline' section below).
- Only be attending the 2026 BC Summer Games in the sport of Athletics.
- Athletes selected to a BC Games Zone Athletics Team must hold a 2026 Annual Athlete U16 Membership or a Limited Athlete BC Summer Games Membership.
Athlete Rules:
Athletes, coaches, and parents are asked to please familiarize themselves with the following rules around participation in the Games and in each event.
- Athlete selected to a BC Games Zone Athletics Team can compete in the sport of Athletics only.
- Athletes must compete for the BC Games Zone they reside in.
- Athletes must adhere to and conduct themselves according to the BC Games Code of Conduct.
- Athletes selected to a BC Games Zone Athletics Team must be a BC Athletics Competitive Athlete member or a BC Summer Games member (click here).
- Athletes selected to a BC Games Zone Athletics Team must stay in the Games accommodations for the duration of the Games.
- Athletes may only attend one BC Games to compete in Athletics.
Event Entry Rules
Please see Appendix A for a list of events to be contested and events capacity limits at the 2026 BC Summer Games. Please contact the Provincial Advisor with any questions. Athletes, coaches, and parents are asked to please familiarize themselves with the following Event Entry Rules.
- Each zone is permitted the following: three (3) athletes for the 100m and 200m events, two (2) athletes for all other events, and one (1) relay team per zone per relay (4 x 100m and 4 x 400m). After the zone teams have been selected, vacant positions in each event will be filled by Wildcards based on performance.
- Each athlete may be selected to compete in up to three (3) events plus a relay as determined by the Zone Rep. Athletes are not guaranteed three (3 events) or a relay competition. Final event selection is determined through the zone selection process, zone selection committee and/or team staff in each zone.
- Athletes competing in the pentathlon may compete in that event only, plus one relay.
- Athletes may only attend one BC Games to compete in Athletics.

TtoT athletes may use their own equipment.
All equipment must comply with the respective safety rules of the discipline as determined by the Competition Committees.
Zones are responsible for transporting their own sprint paddling equipment or TtoT athletes’ private equipment.

All TtoT races will be raced in sprint boats.
Kayak Equipment:
K1:
All LtoT SHORT DISTANCE races for SINGLE sprint kayak races will be in Surf Ski kayak - 56 cm beam or wider (Think Ace, Think Jet or equivalent) or development kayaks APPROVED by CKBC Technical Director.
All LtoT and TtoT LONG DISTANCE races (1000m and 2000m) will be in Surf Ski kayak - 56 cm beam or wider (Think Ace, ThinkJet or equivalent). CKBC will arrange for these boats to be present.
K2:
For sprint K2, all LtoT boats must be a beginner style boat. The list of acceptable boats is as follows:

Event Requirements:
Every athlete must participate in a minimum of three (3) categories from four (4) - Sprint, Stand up Paddle board, Flatwater Slalom, Kayak Polo. Every athlete must participate in a minimum of three (3) events and a maximum of eight (8) events.
Athletes may enter LtoT in one type of boat and TtoT in another type.
Entries in the LtoT canoe category may use a high kneel position.
The Competition Committees reserves the right to move LtoT athletes to TtoT when obviously outclassing their category.
Open events have no requirements regarding the athlete's developmental stage; they can be entered by any athlete.
The Mixed Development categories require an even number of LtoT and TtoT athletes per boat.
Multi Gender events means the team has at least one of each gender in the crew.
PaddleAll competitors are encouraged to be part of any crew events.
Team members cannot be replaced between heats and finals without Competition Committee’s approval before the event.
Kayak Polo teams can substitute players at any time, both during the match and between the matches from their 6 players designated on the team roster.

The Rules of Play shall be the Rules of Golf as approved by Golf Canada and the R & A.
Players must be members in good standing of British Columbia Golf. Players' Golf Canada Score Centre account will be verified.
BCGA may assess a tournament fee in addition to the BC Games registration fee. All fees are paid directly to British Columbia Golf.
Female athletes are permitted to attend two BC Games to compete in Golf. Male athletes from zones 1, 7, and 8 are permitted to attend two BC Games to compete in Golf. Athletes who are attending the Games for the first time will be given priority in selection, where all other aspects of selection are equal. Athletes are not permitted to attend more than two BC Games to compete in Golf. |
Yardage – As per recommendations via the Long Term Player Development Guide for Golf, for the Intro to Competition/Train to Play Stages, the following yardages will be utilized for the BC Summer Games:
- Girls = 5200–6000 yards
- Boys = 5600–6600 yards

All athletes will participate in a mandatory rules and etiquette session at the Games.

Every competitor shall be a member of a rowing club recognized by Rowing BC and member in good standing of Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA). Each athlete must be registered as a competitive rower with RCA, and each coach registered as a coach. A RCA number will be required and verified.
Athletes who have participated in rowing in a Canadian National Senior, U23, Junior, or CanAmMex Team, or Canada Summer Games, or Provincial Team at any time are not eligible to compete in the BC Summer Games.

The BC Rugby Union does not recommend that players be encouraged to play out of their correct age group under any circumstances. However, exceptional players ONE BIRTH YEAR ONLY below the age band may play in the next higher age band team if:
- This BC Rugby Union policy statement has been made clear IN WRITING by the coach to the player’s parents and doctor.
- Players MUST have a signed letter from EACH of the player’s parent, the player’s coach, the player’s doctor.
- These letters must clearly state the author(s) fully understands the implications and risks of the player competing in the older age group, and that they each affirm that the player is physically, socially and mentally mature enough to play at that next higher Age Grade.
- Copies of the Coach’s letters to the doctor and parents, and the letters from the parents, doctor, and Coach, together with copies of the player’s registration form, birth certificate and high school picture ID must be filed with the BC Rugby Union prior to the athlete taking the field in an Age Grade game above his/her natural age band.
All BC Summer Games participants in Rugby must be registered with the BCRU and be members in good standing.

Athletes may attend a second BC Games to compete in Sailing if at the first Games they competed in the Optimist Class AND at the second Games they will compete in either the Laser Radial or C420 Class. Athletes are not permitted to attend more than two BC Games to compete in Sailing.
It is the responsibility of each competitor to supply their boat for the BC Games competition. Travel costs will be reimbursed based on combined transportation from each zone. Mileage claims forms will be provided by the Provincial Advisor for those approved for reimbursement and must be submitted to the BC Games Society within two weeks of the Games. Zone coaches should discuss transportation reimbursement eligibility prior to the Games with the Provincial Advisor. |

Athlete Selection
All clubs in your region are required to submit eligible athletes with current season results from any sanctioned competition within the qualifying period of September 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. Relay lead-off legs and time trials should not be considered for selection. All times should be converted from long course to short course at a 2% conversion rate.
Each zone should identity a Zone Representative to assist in the selection procedure, using the World Aquatics Points chart to rank all submitted times as per below:
- The single highest ranked swimmer in each category be first selected:
- Freestyle (50, 100, 400, 800)
- Backstroke (100, 200)
- Breaststroke (100, 200)
- Butterfly (100, 200)
- Individual Medley (200, 400)
- The remaining positions be selected based on the swimmers highest World Aquatics point scores in any of the above events, with a maximum of 3 swimmers being selected for any one category.
- Swimmers will only be ranked in one category.
Wildcard spaces are allocated at the discretion of the Provincial Advisor.
Coach Selection
The Coach of Record of the swimmer with the highest World Aquatics point score shall be named that zone's head coach. In the event that this coach declines, then the coach of the next highest scoring swimmer will be selected. The assistant coach to be selected by the head coach of the zone and the Zone Representative. The following criteria must be met by the first day of the competition:
- Head Coach: NCCP Fundamentals Coach certified
- Assistant Coaches: NCCP Fundamentals Coach trained

Transportation Requirements:
All athletes, coaches, and adult supervisors, except for those residing within close proximity to the host community, are expected to use BC Games transportation services from their designated pick-up point, which may include bus or air travel. This transportation is provided at no additional cost to participants. Participants residing within close proximity to the host community are responsible for their own travel to the Games, a process known as Immediate Vicinity Travel.
Participants may request to opt out of BC Games transportation (a process known as Own Travel) with approval from the Provincial Advisor. However, sport-specific travel requirements may override this option. Participants traveling under either Immediate Vicinity Travel or Own Travel do so at their own expense and liability. The full athlete fee still applies regardless of the travel method chosen.
All participants on BC Games transportation services must adhere to the BC Games Society’s Team Travel Policy which requires them to travel at their own expense and liability to a designated zone pick-up point and be under the supervision of a coach or adult supervisor from their sport. |

Wrestlers who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at any Canadian U19 or U20 National Championships are not eligible to participate in the BC Summer Games. The only exceptions to this are those athletes who had fewer than 6 participants in their weight class at the National Championship. Exceptions must be approved by the Provincial Advisor.
Athletes who have been selected and competed for Canada as a member of the Canadian Cadet National Team at the U17 World Championships or Pan American Championships are not eligible to compete at the BC Summer Games.
Wildcard positions will be given to athletes who are unsuccessful in qualifying for the zone teams. These athletes must submit an application form to BC Wrestling through their Zone Representative in order to be considered. The 24 athletes with the highest tournament points from the current season (Provincial Development Plan) will be awarded the wildcard spots.
Athletes may only attend one BC Games to compete in Wrestling. |
Weight Classes
Boys: 45kg, 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 74kg, 78kg, 84kg, 90kg, and 110kg (maximum)
Girls: 47kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, and 90kg (maximum)
Weigh-in: Each athlete will weigh-in after their zone has been accredited. There will be a 1 kg allowance.
Each zone should attempt to have one athlete for each weight class, within the permitted zone team composition, and must not have more than two athletes in the same weight class. Where a zone has more than two athletes in the same weight class, the zone head coach will select the athlete(s) to be moved up to the next higher weight class. No athlete can be moved up to Boys 110kg or Girls 90kg if the athlete does not meet the minimum weight requirement of 90.1kg for boys and 75.1kg for girls.

Team Classification
Individual Competitions:
At the BC Summer Games, team points will be awarded in each weight class. The top 14 (wildcards can be used as long as not more than 14) placing wrestlers from each zone in a given weight class, will be awarded team classification points.
- 1st – 16 points
- 2nd – 12 points
- 3rd – 9 points
- 4th – 6 points
- 5th – 3 points
- 6th – 1 point
Any weight class, involving boys or girls, that has fewer than six participants in the BC Games will not have their team points calculated from the top of the team point scale above. Instead, team points would count from the bottom of the scale if there are fewer than six participants. Example: If there are three participants, 1st would receive 6 points, 2nd would receive 3 points and 3rd would receive 1 point. (AGM 2004)

Team Dual:
Team dual will take place prior to the individual competition. Results may be used to determine seating for the individual competitions. Teams may be combined to create a dual team, except for the top three Zones from the 2022 BC Summer Games. If available, the top Zones from the 2022 BC Summer Games will receive byes for the first round of the single elimination tournament, with priority to the higher placer. Athletes may be moved up a weight class to fill vacant positions but can only compete in one weight class for each round of the tournament.
Team Dual Tie Breaker:
If two teams are tied in the dual, the tie shall be broken as follows:
- Greatest number of victories in the dual
- Greatest number of victories by fall
- Greatest number of victories by technical superiority
- Greatest number of victories by decision
- Greatest technical point differential in dual
- Most team 4 point moves
- Most team 2 point moves
- Least number of cautions in the dual
- Winner of coin flip. Red team is head and blue team is tail. The Wrestling Sport Chair will perform the coin flip.
Team dual results will not contribute to team classification points.
Team Results Tie Breaker for Individual Competition:
In the event of a tie between two teams, the placing will be determined by using the following tie-breaking criteria. Each step shall be applied until the tie no longer exists.
- the team with the most 1st place finishes
- the team with the most 2nd place finishes
- the team with the most 3rd place finishes
- the team with the most 4th place finishes
- the team with the most 5th place finishes
- the team with the most 6th place finishes
If a tie still exists, it shall be recorded as such. In the event of a tie between more than two teams, use the tie-breaking criteria listed above until one place can be determined. Then start over and use the criteria to break the remaining tie(s). |
