Beat the Heat at the BC Summer Games

With temperatures expected to rise up to 36 degrees Celsius this week, we want to make sure you’re prepared to beat the heat at the Games and answer some questions you may have!


Accommodation

All accommodation sites have been built with summer weather in mind and are equipped with sustainable air conditioning systems in every classroom and common area being used by participants. Filtered drinking water will also be available for participants at all accommodation sites, as well as at Opening Ceremony marshalling, Participants Special Events, and sport venues.


Sport Venues

The host society has worked closely with sports to increase the amount of shade and drinking water available for participants at their sport venues. Where possible, tents have been added to provide added cover while water and ice will also be available for participants to hydrate and cool off.


Air Quality

The safety of participants is our top priority. We are monitoring air quality closely and will work in tandem with the City of Kelowna and Provincial Sport Organizations to activate alternative plans or schedule changes as needed for the safety of participants. Tips & Tricks
  • Make sure to bring the essentials, including water bottles, sunscreen, hats, and electrolytes.
  • Start your trip off right on your way to the Games by bringing any snacks or drinks that you might need to stay fueled and hydrated during your journey to Kelowna.
