Teck Trail Operations Named Community Partner of Trail-Rossland 2026 BC Winter Games
TRAIL, B.C. — Teck Trail Operations is a proud Community Partner of the Trail-Rossland 2026 BC Winter Games, continuing a long-standing legacy of support for sport and community development in the region. The partnership marks another chapter in a relationship that spans decades, as the Kootenays prepare to host the Games for the third time, following successful events in 1982 and 2006.
Set for February 25 to March 1, 2026, the Games will welcome more than a thousand young athletes, coaches, and officials from across the province for a celebration of sport, teamwork, and community pride.
“The BC Winter Games have long been a cornerstone for developing young athletes, coaches, and officials across B.C., providing a vital stepping-stone to higher levels of competition,” said Matt Parrilla, General Manager, Teck Trail Operations. “These inclusive multi-sport events not only showcase emerging talent but also foster community spirit, promote teamwork, and develop future Olympians and Paralympians. Our sponsorship reflects Teck’s dedication to supporting local communities and youth-based initiatives.”
This year’s Games theme, From Metals to Medals: Forging Community in Sport, reflects Teck Trail Operations’ deep roots in the region. In 2026, Teck will also celebrate 130 years of continuous smelting in the Trail area, an enduring legacy of industry, innovation, and community investment.
By supporting the BC Winter Games, Teck Trail Operations is helping strengthen the future of amateur sport in the Kootenays and across the province. The investment ensures young athletes have the opportunities, encouragement, and community backing they need to pursue their goals — on and off the field of play.
The Trail-Rossland 2026 BC Winter Games are expected to deliver lasting benefits to the region, from volunteer engagement and youth development to economic impacts that extend well beyond the end of the Games.
